Thank you for your continued support of Jazz at Lincoln Center. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have arrived at the difficult decision to cancel all in-person events through June 2021.

We believe in the power of jazz to uplift, inspire, and create a sense of community. It is in this spirit that we invite you to connect with the global jazz community through our digital programming.

Our website now serves as a portal where you may access free and premium virtual concerts, educational programs, and discussions. This content includes Live From Dizzy's  performances, JALC’s early childhood and adult music programs like WeBop and Swing University, archival orchestra concerts, Blue Engine album releases, and more. 

We hope these virtual programs bring you comfort, community and good vibes during this challenging, unprecedented time.  If you're able, we ask that you consider supporting Jazz at Lincoln Center and our virtual programming at whatever level you can.

sWing University

Swing University offers engaging virtual classes for jazz fans, enthusiasts, and students of all backgrounds and levels.

Our fun and informal classes are taught by industry experts like Seton Hawkins as well as members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra including Vincent Gardner, Victor Goines, Sherman Irby, Ted Nash, and more. Explore jazz history, discuss new and classic tunes, and discover listening methods that will improve your concert experiences.

Live From Dizzy’s Club

Every Thursday, Live From Dizzy’s welcomes club favorites & emerging artists back to the Dizzy's Club stage. Join us from the comfort of your own home as we bring stunning New York views and the live jazz club experience to your living room. Additionally, each live performance will include an artist interview with Dizzy’s Club manager Roland Chassagne. More shows will be announced for January 2021 shortly.

Blue Engine Records

Explore the music of Jazz at Lincoln Center with Blue Engine, our in-house record label. Launched in 2015 with the critically acclaimed Live in Cuba, projects include historic concerts from the vault, movie soundtracks, star-studded charity albums, and limited vinyl releases.

View fullsize We say farewell to Freddy Cole, one of the great interpreters of the American Songbook and a prolific artist who graced Jazz at Lincoln Center's stages for decades. Equally at home on piano and vocals, Freddy was a rare artist with unparalleled style and sophistication. Freddy’s boundless repertoire, effortless comping, and masterful vocals made him an enduring favorite, and his annual run at Dizzy's Club was always a special occasion for us. After every set he always stayed late to hear the young artists perform during Late Night Sessions, inevitably ending up as the last to leave the club. Freddy truly loved this music as much as he loved bringing it to others, and he spent a lifetime sharing his gifts with fans of all generations. We send our love and condolences to the Cole family and friends. View fullsize Brilliant pianist and New York native Elmo Hope was born on this day in 1923. But when Elmo was just 17 years old, the world was almost robbed of one of its great artists. After being shot by police, narrowly missing his spine, Elmo spent six weeks recovering in the hospital, only to then be charged with "assault, attempted robbery, and violation of the Sullivan Law." The officers involved testified that Hope was one of five suspects involved in a mugging, but none of the other four suspects, or any of the three alleged victims, were ever identified by police. Elmo maintained that he was shot while running for cover alongside other passersby after officers started shooting. Elmo was freed of all charges. We should all be grateful for every note that Elmo Hope recorded and for every bit of inspiration he's given to his fellow musicians and audiences.
View fullsize On this day in 1957, Thelonious Monk assembled an all-star group of Ray Copeland, Gigi Gryce, Coleman Hawkins, John Coltrane, Wilbur Ware, and Art Blakey to record one of Thelonious’ greatest studio efforts: Monk's Music. Monk’s Music (and, generally, Monk’s music) is a gift that keeps on giving, and first-time listeners are in for a treat. Just listen to Thelonious' excitement as he drops out at the end of his first solo to call up the next soloist: “Coltrane! Coltrane!” Of course, with Thelonious Monk, it’s not just the music that’s unforgettable. How about that album cover!?
